Good Friday
Well, in Australia, it's Good Friday. The part where Jesus dies on the cross, for our sins. Isn't it horrible that he had to die? Just thinking about, I realize what he had to do...all so that we wouldn't be sinners for the rest of lives -- Jesus Christ had to die for our sins, so that we could have Eternal life with Him, in Heaven.
Now, we're going to have another one of those stories -- I want you to imagine being there.
There were three crosses -- and on the middle one, lay Jesus Christ. People walking past insult him. At the sixth hour, it becomes dark, until the ninth hour. At the ninth, Jesus cries out -- "My God, My God -- Why have you forsaken me?". He speaks again, and breathes his last breath.
At that same moment, the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shakes and rocks split. Tombs are broken and the bodies of many holy people who had died are raised to life.
Wow. So much happened, just in that short amount of time. Jesus must of felt so...alone. Just as I wrote that, there is a little extra in my bible, I'll copy down part of it:
When Jesus hung on the cross, God the Father himself looked away. Jesus knows what it's like to be forsaken. To be left alone. But Jesus volunteered to be forsaken. He went to the cross knowing what it would mean. Why? So that even when you feel most alone, you won't be. No matter what happens, Christ will never forsake you, or let you down.
Isn't that just the nicest thing anyone has ever done for you? I mean, really -- Jesus Chrsit died on the cross -- for you. And me. For everyone. For sinners, and believers. For guyz, and for girlz. For elderly people, for little kids. For EVERYONE. I'm going to think about this a lot...
