dreams and visions

Dreams. When you were little, what did your parents call them? Good dreams and Bad dreams. In fact, I still call them that. And the type of dream you have can sometimes affect the way you face the morning. For instance, the dreams I had last night were about -- you guessed it --school. I cannot stand school. Therefore, this morning, I woke up in a bad mood -- annoyed that I'd wasted my night at school, and now I was going there again, today!
But not all dreams are totally depressing. (Not that my dream was, but it feels like it.)

Sometimes, like in the Bible -- God might speak to us in a dream. I mean, think about it. In your dream, your in the backyard, sitting by a tree, reading a book. And then, suddenly -- you hear this voice. God's voice. If you've read the Christy Miller and Sierra Jensen series, you'll know that God doesn't always speak in sentences. He speaks with words. Like in the Christy Miller book, 'Let Go'. In fact, God uses words a lot of the time. To my parents, in fact. Before we moved here, before we moved to Kerang, even before we moved in with my grandparents for a year. When I was 9.

Dad was in the frontyard, doing something. All of a sudden, he had an image of David and His sheep (or something like that -- I'm not completely sure!) and the words 'Wait. They'll come to you.' Wow, he thought. So, he went inside to share this with my mum. And, guess what? She was already on her way outside. 'Guess what!' they both said. And, you know what? God had said the same thing to both of them. Wait. They'll come to you.

And now, 4 years later, we believe we're finally beginning doing what God has planned for us to do. In fact, I think I'll do a post on that, too, sometime soon!

  1. This dream is gonna sound weird. One time I was being chased by college students that had turned into zombies. I ran into my room, locked the door, and hid under a loft (which I don't actually have in my room). The zombies were trying to get in. But then I heard the voice of God say "she isn't here." And then the zombies went away and one of my friends came and rescued me.

    Pretty weird dream.

You have a point that dreams affect our moods. Sometimes I just wake up really weirded out not really understanding why I had the dream.

  2. Hey Chelsea, lolz -- that is a pretty weird dream! Also a pretty amazing dream, though. Although, it seams weird th God lied...:P:):S Lolz.

It's weird, but dreams are like a whole other life. We can dream about what we WISH would happen, and you could try out a situation in your dream that you wish would happen in reality! Like, for instance -- once, I had this dream of who I wanted to be -- I talked to lots of people at school, I was friendly, and had heaps of fun! But the other night, I had a dream that some girls in my class said hi to me, and I just ignored them. Something to think about...maybe I'll go a little deeper into this subject, on another post!

  3. Hey Em,

When I was little I had REALLY bad dreams, okay, nightmares, for years and years and YEARS, it was BAD! And I was scared every night, but, I am not kidding -- but one night I was totally freaked out -- every one was as sleep, and suddenly I heard a choir singing, trumpets playing, and everything you would imagine for heavenly music!!! I heard soft singing, and it was AWESOME, it was SO beautiful!! But, it HAD to be angels singing (I am NOT joking!) because EVERYONE was as sleep, my family doesn't listen to music at 1 o'clock AM, and neither did I, and I have never ONCE heard music like that -- not even now. And that's when I could go to bed straight away, and my fear totally left.

  4. this is an amazing story!
In year three i had a friend who was a year older than me, and to be breif, she came and slept over my house, and wanted to sleep in the same bed as me, but mum said to sleep on the next room (long sotry) and she started crying. my dad came in and we found out that she wanted to sleep in the same bed as me because she got bad nightmares after wahcting a movie, and everynight she was so scared she couldn't even tell her mum about it. it was about a guy trying to get her.
WELL dad printed out a peice of paper that said'2 timothy 1:7, for i have not given you a spirit of fear but of love power and a sound mind. He said when the guy came to 'get her' to read that verse out.
So the next morning, i asked her if she had a dream, and she told me that she did/. The guy came to get her, and the room split, she fell in the middle and reached out to grab her mums hand but missed,. he was at the bottom, and went to get her, but without waking up, somehow she remembered the verse (not that she had really looked at it) and he melted, the floor went together and she was back with her family.
    That says something doesn't it?
The word of god is alive and powerful, and a simple movie can let something enter in that is very real. But with god on our side, what can be against us? actually im going to use this as a post! thanks emily!

  5. AOTHER thing is God does speak in dreams. y dad wrote this song and it had an arabic girl singing at the beinginng, singing a prayer to the muslims. WELL< i was listening the last bit of one of the dongs, and i was suddenly floating on eagles wings. (oh and this was before bed, so it was a vision) and then in came the song, and i was in the throne room. the women singing this prayer was at one side, and God was there, and I knelt before him. he told me he had chosen me to go and tell Muslims the good news, and I saw this muuslim lady who said help. In fatc before that i kept seeing these things about muslims and islam, and even had dreams, and then this. I knew I had been called.
    So em you are right!

  6. Wow. That's all I can say. Libby, Larny -- you sure have experienced some icredible things. I can remember something weird and scary I've experienced, when I was about...7 years old.

It was the middle of the night, and I was in bed. All of a sudden, in the open doorway, I could see this...person. It was wearing jeans, and wasn't anyone I knew. It just stood there. As soon as I got the guts, I ran to my mum and dad's room. I got into their bed, and while trying to convince myself it was okay, I saw it again. Standing in the doorway. I snuggled closer to my mum. Freaked out. Scared.

The next morning, I told my parents. My dad told me something I remember to this day. If I ever see anything scary, all I had to say was 'I beleive in Jesus, Go Away!' and if it wasn't from God, it would go away.

Thinking back, I'm realizing what a horrible experience that was. But I know that God is always with me, even when I'm so, so scared. He's sitting by, caring, comforting and watching me. Remember one of my favourite verses, Psalm 4:8 -- I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.

I'll be praying for all of us, as God sends new things our way, never give up on God.

  10. hey engel! thanks! I remember something similiar to you emily, when I was little I remember like seeing people, and I would freak out, but im fine now. i used to have an experence because im so scared of cockroaches, i used to wait every night for this 'ockroaach' to come and literally- every night one would come, ill'd cqall mum and she would come and kill it. SHe finallly told me that because i had so much faith in it, and knew it was there hard to explai, sometimes i sill have that) it would come SO we prayed and I stopped believing it was there. every now and then I would thingk about a cockroach and freak out, but i wish i had faith in jesus just like that cockeroach!
But im nearly over my phobia praise the Lord!

  11. AND even anothe, i had this nightmare once, (and every time i have these, its like in the dream i know something like thats going to happen, again hard to explain) and mum asked me to go my sisters ballet stuff down the ahll. (again at night) so it was very dark. as I went down the hall it went darker and darker, and when I was at the bathroom the devil spoke to me, trying to put fear into me. I foget what He said but i rmember (i know this is a bit funnny and embarrassing) banged on the door and shouted 'shut up' and then i was so scared I couldn't call out mum. Have you ever had that? i just couldn't and ten I turned towards the light (into the lounge room) and couldn't mve, but started singing this song to jesus. Slowly i was able to walk and talk more and more until I was in the light. it actually kind of symbolic of our lives. The more we walk in fear ad darkness the more tempted and scared we are, but by walking in Gods joy (our stregnth, example singing) we can walk towards the light. make sense?

  12. Larny -- that last experience you just described, I feel as though I may have experienced something of the same , thought if I have, it must have been many years ago. That's so true about having as much faith in God as that cockroach.
