LOVE

The first thing I'm going to be focusing on is: God's Love.

love

love is more than a feeling. its more than a motion. its indescribable. God is love. We cannot explain it. but love is in the air. God is everywhere.

What do you think of that poem? I wrote it, after reading 1 John 4:16b, which says,
' God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him. '
Say it. God is love. GOD is love. God IS love. God is LOVE!
1 John 4:8 reads, Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is Love.
There it is again. Because God is Love.
Psalm 130:7b -- For with the Lord is unfailing love. AND -- Psalm 13:5a, but I trust in your unfailing love.

Now, I'm going to tell you a story. My dad used it in his sermon yesterday at church, because. crazily enough, we both decided to focus on love this next couple of weeks.

A little boy lived with his father. Every day, the father would come home from work, grab his favourite glass, fill it with cold, fresh milk, grab a cookie and relax.
His son watched him do this, and one day came up with the idea to surprise his dad, by making his snack ready for him, by the time he got back from work. So, getting to work, he reached into the high kitchen cabinet to retrieve the glass his dad always used. But, you know what happened -- the glass fell out of his grasp, and smashed onto the kitchen floor. Undaunted, the boy grabbed another glass, and set it onto the benchtop. When he poured milk into the cup, it splashed all over the floor, the bench and himself. Continuing on, the boy took a cookie from the pantry, accidently dropping the whole jar onto the floor. Sorting among the broken cookie-pieces, the boy managed to find a reasonable amount of cookie in one piece. Putting it onto a plate, he heard the front door opening. His dad entered the room, and gazed around the kitchen, taking it all in. He took a step closer to the boy. Then he took out his arms, and embraced his son.

What was the point of this story? Were you thinking, as you read it -- I know what this is about. Perseverance -- don't give up, even when things go wrong, or not according to plan. Um, no. Could of been, but that's not what I'm talking bout. I'm talking about love. The little boys father took in the scene of the kitchen -- the milk dripping of the counter, the cookie crumbs all of the floor, not to mention the broken glass -- his favourite glass, no less. What would you have done, if his were your son? Taken him in your arms, and embraced him with a hug? Or yell, and demand he clean it all up instantly? I know which one I'd be more likely to do. But this guy recognised that his son had tried. He'd seen what his father liked, and he'd done it for him. And his father knew. Instead of showing hate, he showed love, because although his son had made a lot of mistakes, he'd done the task in love.
Maybe you know what I'm getting at. Maybe you don't. Either way, I'll tell you. Imagine that the father is God. And you've just made a lot of mistakes, but God takes you in his arms. He forgives you, he loves you. Read this last part of today's post, and I want you to remember it, if nothing else.

God's love is un-conditional. We have to accept it. FULLY accept it. We need to walk into his embrace, because he loves us. We need to accept his love. Just accept it. It's there, waiting. So, I invite you right now to accept God's un-conditional love. He'll love you forever, no matter what. All you have to do is accept it.

Dear God,
I love you. A lot. And I know you love me -- a whole lot more, more than I can ever imagine. But right now, I just want to accept your offer for un-conditional love. A kind of love that lasts forever. Because that's what I want. A love that lasts forever. I love you.
