Friends.
Many of you on Nancy Rue's blog are finding it a lot of trouble to find some true friends, so I decided I'd do a post about it.
First up, I'd like to share the poem I've studied and memorized for english. It's not really deep or anything -- but it's so true, and I know a lot of you will relate to it.
Friends ~ by Elizabeth Jennings
I fear it's very wrong of me,
And yet I must admit,
When someone offers friendship
I want the whole of it.
I don't want everybody else
To share my friends with me.
At least, I want one special one,
Who indisputably,
Likes me much more than all the rest,
Who's always on my side,
Who never cares what others say,
Who lets me come and hide
Within his shadow, in his house —
It doesn't matter where —
Who lets me simply be myself,
Who's always, always there.
Yeah, I can totally relate to it.
So, how do i get them?
How do you think that you can get more friends? Are you convinced there must be something wrong with you? Or maybe you're looking for the wrong type of friend... I don't know. But I DO know of some advice I can give you --
Don't forget about God -- he wants to be your friend. So, even if you feel like the most friendless person on the planet? Well, your not. But I know it can seem like you need human friends -- and you do. I mean, that's why God created Eve --so that Adam wouldn't be all alone.
Tell God about all this stuff. ASK Him to bring you a friend. And even though it might seem like this new friend didn't work out -- well, maybe this isn't the one God sent you. Maybe it'll come when you least expect it...
Remember that verse in Proverbs 17:17 -- "A friend loves at all times". Love everyone -- you are a friend.
how do i know if they're for real?
Ever experienced friends that aren't real? I mean, they're real in appearence and stuff -- but after you've shared all your precious secrets and everything, they ditch you, or blab them to your whole school or something?
Now, don't go around doing a background check on them or something, like the detectives do -- but you can observe them, when they're around other people. What are they like? How are others treated differently to how he/she treats you?
do i really need them? friends, that is.
Yeah, we do. Let me share the first part of a poem I'm writing for english (It's not finished yet).
Friends
Friends are like air – we need them to breathe.
Without them, we are lonely.
Like the sand without the sea.
i thought dogs and stuff could be like, our best friends.
Sure, they can be our friends. I mean, my gorgeous fluffy ginger cat, Jimmy -- is soo cute! I love him. But how could he be my best friend?
Check out this passage, from Genesis.
God said, "It's not good for the Man to be alone; I'll make him a helper, a companion."
So God formed from the dirt of the ground all the animals of the field and all the birds of the air. He brought them to the Man to see what he would name them.
Whatever the Man called each living creature, that was its name.
The Man named the cattle, named the birds of the air, named the wild animals; but he didn't find a suitable companion.
God DID originally create animals as companions for Adam. But they weren't suitable. So what happened then? God created Eve -- a human friend.
God WILL give you a true friend -- He gave Adam one, didn't He? Yeah.
I hope this post helped some of you, girlz. I certainly leaned a lot! :)

ReplyDeleteHey Libby,
ReplyDeleteI so understand. I guess my post didn't really help when it came to getting friends. and im so praying for you. maybe if you started a new hobby -- like a sport, or something, where a team or other people your age are invloved -- you'll meet some new people :)

Hey Libby,
ReplyDeleteWhen I read your comment it made me want to cry. I just feel so bad for you and I really wish that I could help. I will be praying for you, though. Maybe God's answer to your prayer was wait.In that case you could get a friend at any time or place. You just have to wait. Obviously, the friends that you had before just weren't very good friends and they weren't worth your time. I bet that God has a truly awesome friend just waiting for you. Don't give up hope, Libby. God will still give you a friend. I am sure of it. Btw, do you want me to put you on the prayer chain? God bless you!

ReplyDeleteLibby-I was sick for six months. I couldn't go to school, I would almost pass out just walking to the bathroom. That and some other stuff led me into being really really depressed. From that I've learned never ever give up because it just holds you back. So please please don't give up

Ask God for faith, Libby. I know it's easy for me to say, but ask God for faith that you'll believe you WILL find a friend. There's this part in a Sierra Jensen book, where she doesn't have any friends. Christy tells her, over the phone, that she'll be praying for one to come right to her door...well, then Katie interupts and says that it's not pizza delivery or something. Anyway -- I'll be praying, for a friend -- to come to your door or a different way :)
