The Book Study...
After reading through all your comments on the previous post, the book we'll be reading for the study is...
Do Hard Things by Alex & Brett Harris
Most people don't expect you to understand what we're going to tell you in this book. And even if you understand, they don't expect you to care. And even if you care, they don't expect you to do anything about it. And even if you do something about it, they don't expect it to last. WE DO.
Girlz, this book is a really great book -- I mean, listen to some of the "Praise for Do Hard Things" --
"Will prove to be one of the most life-changing and culture changing books of this generation."
"This book is a refreshing wake-up call to our generation. We CAN do hard things and give ourselves to something huge for the kingdom of God!"
Now, you may be wondering how this is gonna work. Well, on Alex & Brett's Website, they've released a book called the "Do Hard Things Study Guide". I downloaded it, and it has questions for us to answer and everything, for each chapter -- specifically for groups. Does that rock or WHAT? Here's the opening paragraph thing for the Study Guide.
Dear Friend,
If you’re like us, talking with others about what you’re reading helps you decide what you think and how to respond to what a book is saying. This chapter-by-chapter study guide is intended to help you do just that. Use it for personal study, if you wish, but we think it works best in a group. And the best group is one where you’re surrounded by others who care about the same things you do and are ready to put truth into action.
Don’t feel you have to process every question. It’s not a test, and as often as not, there’s no one right answer. Also, don’t let our questions limit what you ask or where you go. Ask God to direct your thoughts and decisions. And ask Him for courage—lots of it. Because big ideas are weak ideas if we’re not willing to let them shape how we think and live. So use this study guide to zero in on the ideas, choices, and actions that seem most promising and helpful to you and your friends. Then expect great things to happen in your lives as you do hard things for the glory of God!
Your Fellow Rebelutionaries,
Alex and Brett Harris
Now, girlz. It would really help you if you had the book, Do Hard Things -- but if you just can't find it -- which you should be able to -- well, that's okay. But remember that this book is really helpful, and you will learn SO much from it. So don't think of this book as a waste of time!
You know what I think? I've been struggling to read this book properly, because it's non-fiction, pretty much -- and for some reason it's kind of hard for me to read it. So this group study is really going to help me -- and you! -- to read this book. :D Thanks, girlz!
Now, I think I'll post on this twice a week, so that we'll be finished before the year is over. :)
So -- I'll post for this study on Tuesday's and Thursday's.
How does this sound to you, girlz?
Luv,Emii

ReplyDeleteI have read Do Hard Things a total of 5 times now, and each time I read it, I soak in more and more. I think it is definitely one of the BEST christian books out there. If you are like me, you will learn so much from it!
