Jesus is coming back. ♥sooner than we think
I was listening to a talk by Chuck Swindoll. He was talking about Jesus coming back. And he just made something so clear to me it wasn't blurry anymore.
"With the Lord, a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance."
That last bit. Think of someone close to you -- or someone you know -- who doesn't love Jesus.
"He is patient with you, not wanting Dove to perish, but to come to repentance."
It suddenly makes sense. It's suddenly become personal.
It all just made me think. Really -- what's right there, clearly in front of me? Not half the stuff I waste my time on.
Earlier on today, I was making tea -- Warm Chicken Salad. So, I'd made the salad, put it into bowls. The oven was pre-heated, and I'd just put the chicken pieces on the tray to be heated. (The frozen stuff. Not as gross as it sounds.) And then I turned around, picked up all the rubbish -- as in, carrot peel, the lettuce bag (What happened to that head of lettuce thing?) -- and put it in the bin.
And then went and listened to music.
Fifteen minutes later, I went to the kitchen to see if they'd nearly finished cooking. To my shock, there, on the stove, sat the chicken. Uncooked.
Why? Because I'd turned my back on it. Focused on the rubbish, instead.
We shouldn't focus on the rubbish of this world -- what they want us to do. The things that don't matter. We can't turn our back on what's important -- on what's gonna help us grow -- on what Jesus tells us to do.
You know what I think? Life isn't about picking up the rubbish. It's about turning to God and trusting Him. Only then can we give it to Him -- otherwise we'll be lugging it around, looking for a bin to dump it into.
God's the only One who'll truly accept it and take it away. Forever.
And I'm just thankful God shows me these things in ways that don't come with huge consequences. Okay, so we had tea half an hour later than planned. So?
We ignore the fact that You're coming back, Jesus. Maybe tonight. Maybe tomorrow. Who knows when -- only God does. Fame doesn't matter. Being loved and accepted by this world doesn't matter. What I wear, what I look like. That's not important. If your smart. If your dumb. If it seems like you're good at everything. If it seems like you're good at nothing.
Fact is, God loves you. Just the way you are.
Loving Jesus. Showing others how to love Him. That's what matters.
Obeying You, Jesus -- that's what we have to do.

Our main business is not to see what lies dimly in the distance, but what lies clearly at hand. What lies clearly in front of me?
