Mini-Interview: Roma Waterman
Roma Waterman is an Australian singer, songwriter, author, musician... and today I'd like to welcome her to Girlz 4 God for a Mini-Interview!
Oh, and you can go HERE to read more about who Roma is and what she does. And to hear some of her songs while you read the interview, click HERE -- I reccommend "Wings of Love". It's my favourite -- not that I've heard all the others. I just love this one. Remember to open it in a new window -- how annoying is it when it exits the page you're trying to read?
If I am at home I mostly write in my home studio. If I am on the road its anywhere there is a piano!
I have never regretted a decision. I have done things I was not proud of but in the end God works everything out for good and you learn valuable lessons that turn you into the person you are today, so I have no regrets.
What colour? Are you kidding? Its chocolate so I eat them all!
Yes yes yes! I wrote my first song when I was 9 years old (it was pretty bad but it didn't stop me singing it in church lol). I even once turned my mum and dads garage into a 'printing room' and cut and paste all our christmas cards into book which I called "The story of Christmas". I was about 10 and I still have that book!
So many moments! One that comes to mind was when I was about 24 years old - I was in the middle of touring and got quite sick and was told I may never sing again. For three years I was unable to sing or minister or do anything except sleep. During that time I felt so discouraged because I couldn't 'do' anything for God. Yet it was in that moment that I felt God's love for me the most. I realised during that time of illness that God was showing me that I didn't have to be something or do lots of things for Him to love me - but that He loves me because he chooses too. It is not based on the works that we do. It changed my whole way of doing life and brought a freedom to be myself that I did not have previously.
Proverbs 3:5 "Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and do not depend on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and he will direct your paths". Love that scripture. To me it's saying "when you don't know what to do, just trust Him - dont rely on what you know - because He knows more. Just love Him and give Him praise and He will show you the way to go".
On of my all time favourite books is "Walking on water - reflections on faith and art" by Madeline L'Engle. I love anything by CS Lewis, and I love Tolkein - "The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings Trilogy".

Where do you write your songs?
Is there a time you regretted a decision you made, but if you hadn’t made it your life wouldn’t be like it is today?
If you were offered a bag of M&M’s, what colour would you take?
Have you always loved to write?
Has there ever been a moment when you’ve understood, even for just a moment, a tiny part of how big God’s love for us is?
What's the verse you turn to when you're about to make a decision and you're unsure of what to do?
What authors/writers make you think, and inspire you with things about God and life?
This was so cool, Emii!!! Loved it. (:
