i liked it! i loved it!

I never would have thought. Really. Me?

But this week, I've managed to watch all three of the Lord of the Rings movies, and...

I absolutely loved them. 


The girl who rarely reads fantasy and whose favourite movie includes Dan in Real Life because, well, it's about real life?

The characters were so real. Genuine. Loveable. (Er, some of them. Not the bad guys.)

I watched number one with friends, and oh... good times.


"Sit down, Legless!"
I know, I know. It's not Legless. Believe me, we made this movie funnier than probably intended. 


I watched as Sam walked the journey, right by Frodo's side.
Kind. Loyal. I mean, to me, Sam is the most beautiful friend in the world. That silly Gollum, who made me laugh just because I don't know why, called him "the fat hobbit."

He wasn't. But do you know what he was? A friend who gave everything up to help Frodo. Near the end, when they're sitting down on the big rock, Sam looks at Frodo and says, [not exact words] "If I was going to get married, I would have married her." Even though he was in love from the beginning with some girl from the Shire, he kept his promise and went with Froddo. 

this is sam. 

He gave up what he wanted to do what he needed to do. Because Frodo would never have gotten there if it weren't for Sam. Frodo was the ringbearer; but Sam was more than the fellow at his side. No, Sam was... Sam was the humble hero. He never, ever gave up.

Sam:..Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn't. They kept going. Because they were holding on to something. Frodo: What are we holding on to Sam? Sam: That there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo... and it's worth fighting for.

I realized that there's guys who like Sam in this world. My sister and I were quite dismayed when we found out that he'd been in love the whole time. "She's old!" That was us. ;)

Pippin' and Mary. I loved them from the very beginning. They're the silliest, randomest guys, like, ever. So real.

Pippin had a solo. Quite beautiful, really.

This is Legless. (Uh, Legolas). Give him a bow and arrow -- he'll never miss a target, never run out of arrows! Extraordinary. Long hair was definitely a trend in those days.

There's Frodo and Sam. Frodo looking a little bit, er, tired. But his eyes? So BLUE. Really, really blue.

My hobbits, all four of them altogether. Sam, Frodo, Merre and Pippin. (Mary. I know, right. I guess they ran out of guy names.;))

Ian was in the movie! You know, National Treasure? Bad guy? Well, he was a good guy in this one. Sadly, he died. *oops. don't let that ruin the movie for you.*

Guess what arrived in the mail? The Message. So exciting.

Last day of school holidays. What do I plan on doing? Well for one thing, finding some blue glue gel so that I can do this. And perhaps maybe even doing this for my fingernails.
