The Bless People Campaign
that moment when you realize that the world doesn't love you.
that they don't think you're beautiful or worthy of them or good enough to know you.
you hear people talking, saying things about people, about you.
you say things about people, that if they heard you, they might cry.
i came to realize something today. the words we speak can be said to make ourselves feel good -- by bringing someone else down. we can have no ulterior motive other than to state what we consider "truth" and therefore we shouldn't feel bad.
1 Peter 3:8-12 [MSG]
Summing up: Be agreeable, be sympathetic, be loving, be compassionate, be humble. That goes for all of you, no exceptions. No retaliation. No sharp-tongued sarcasm. Instead, bless—that's your job, to bless. You'll be a blessing and also get a blessing.
Whoever wants to embrace life
and see the day fill up with good,
Here's what you do:
Say nothing evil or hurtful;
Snub evil and cultivate good;
run after peace for all you're worth.
God looks on all this with approval,
listening and responding well to what he's asked;
But he turns his back
on those who do evil things.
I've come to a conclusion. This world is nothing about blessing other people and loving them and being kind and filling their hearts with hope.
it's about making ourselves look as good as we can, fooling others in order to take their place up the top no matter how much it hurts them.
When someone says a hurtful word, I'm not going to sit back and watch. I'm going to bless. Think of the God-things people have said to you over your life; they mean things to us, don't they?
Think of the mean, horrible, hurtful, unkind things people have said to you. You remember them, right?
I can't do this anymore. I can't just sit back and watch people be hated and persecuted and unloved.
So what do I propose? The Bless People campaign. Put a smile on people's faces. It's not a hard thing to wave at someone and compliment them on their friendliness or their talent, or to write them a note just saying thankyou for being a part of your life. When you hear someone say something like, "Oh dear, she's fat. I'm glad I'm not like that," or, "Hey, I have that top... I'm never wearing it again... well, I hope it looks better on me, anyway." -- can we honestly just sit there and watch?
This verse is speaking to me. "Whoever wants to embrace life and see the day fill up with good..." -- and then it goes and gives us these clear-cut directions telling us how to go about this life of life!
and can i just say this one thing? I read it this morning.
"Good morning! You're beautiful with God's beauty. Beautiful inside and out! God be with you." Luke 1:28
God makes us beautiful.
If someone tells you you're ugly,
don't listen to them.
I'm reading Redefining Beautiful by Max Lucado right now, and here's the definition of beautiful -- the real definition.
[Beautiful] 1 what God sees when God sees you.

I'm with you on this "Bless People Campaign"! It just sounds like something the world needs :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful post, Emii! I love your idea. I'll totally be a part of the Bless People Campaign! BTW, I have a question - why do you squish the words 'thank you' together, like 'thankyou'? Just wondering. ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks, girlz.
ReplyDeleteHaha, Nicole! I just do. I don't know why. :P
