"Mum? What can I do? I'm bored."

"I'm bored."
"There's never anything to do."
"I've done everything. A thousand times over!"

Ever found yourself repeating those lines for anyone within hearing distance? I try not to say them too loud too often, because otherwise I'm presented with a cleaning job of some form, and, well...

Oh, and while we're at it. "Come and unload the dishwasher!" Doesn't it just make you want to scream? I've gotta work on that.

Reading a post by Raquel over at her blog, God's Daughter, I read this post. And it inspired me. It made me think -- why don't we ever have anything to do? Why are we so bored and spend countless hours feeling like life is hardly worth living because we're doing something that gives us nothing, no fulfillment?

Take Facebook, for example. I deleted it awhile ago, and I know this will sound really dumb, but... my life is different. Because I don't sit down, think, Okay, this is boring -- and then pick up my laptop and type in those dreaded keys, f-a-c-e-b-o-o-k-.-c-o-m and spend the next fourteen hours online clicking the refresh button on the homepage.

Is it because we think, "Well, I don't know my 'mission' in life, what I'm going to be when I grow up -- so I've got nothing to work to." The beautiful thing is that life doesn't work like that. I can open my Bible and my world, my perspective, can be changed.

While he lived on earth, anticipating death, Jesus cried out in pain and wept in sorrow as he offered up priestly prayers to God. Because he honored God, God answered him. Though he was God's Son, he learned trusting-obedience by what he suffered, just as we do.

Are we hiding from God's grace, from God's love, from God's plan... do we think we're not good enough, not able, and, like Moses -- "Oh, Master, please! Send somebody else!"

I know one thing.
God hears our whispers, our calls, our hearts.
Oh, and I know another thing, too.
God loves you.

  4. That's one reason why I deactivated my facebook a few months back. Hehe. However, I find myself the absoloutely opposite. I wish I could be bored, but I never am. I do procrastinate certain things (like school) but I find myself usually worrying too much about everything I have to get done. Still, this is a wonderful post. I always find myself encouraged at your blog. :)

Haha, that IS quite the opposite! I wonder sometimes what life would be like if I always have things to do, aha!
