Wanting, wanting, wanting
I read 1 John 2:15-17 today, and it just made me nod and go, "Oh yes, I so get that. It's so true and I needed to hear it because that's exactly me."
Don't love the world's ways. Don't love the world's goods. Love of the world squeezes out love for the Father. Practically everything that goes on in the world—wanting your own way, wanting everything for yourself, wanting to appear important—has nothing to do with the Father. It just isolates you from him. The world and all its wanting, wanting, wanting is on the way out—but whoever does what God wants is set for eternity.

So, so true. I am always remembered of the need to deny the things of the world when I hear Lead Me to the Cross when they sing "everything I once held dear, I count it all as lost." If it's not worth His time, it's not worth mine.
ReplyDeleteWow....this is such a great passage! And i know i say this all the time, but it REALLY is sooo true :) Btw, this is from the Message Bible right?? Because it seems like every time i read it on your blog, i think to myself,"Hey! i need to go get a Message Bible right now..." i love the way this version just totally seems to relate to us as teens, ya know? but anyways, FANTASTIC post :)
