Book Review: The Hunger Games

The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins

 Honestly, I think it's about time I did a review on the best, most exciting, page-gripping book I've ever read. It's been a week or two but some things just don't leave you -- although, please don't sue me if bits of numbers two and three of the trilogy get intertwined in this review -- sadly, my brain does not automatically slot each book into its own special part of my mind.


Moving on. From page one, the book had me. The uniqueness of the names, the originality of the plot. Something different, something unpredictable. I never once knew what was going to happen; eventually I stopped trying to guess and I just read. I still hoped, though. Sometimes your hope was met with happiness. And sometimes tears trickled down my cheeks.

Katniss' voice was awesome. The humorous thoughts which were played out throughout the book, the honesty of  her heart. Wondering about Gale but at the same time, we're totally taken by Peeta. The characters are genuine, authentic, funny. No lazy writing here, yet no boring descriptions. There was an occasion or two when I laughed out loud.

Literally, you won't be able to put it down.
I didn't want to put it down. It's been a long time -- years, even -- since I've sat up late, my eyes barely holding open, begging mum for five more minutes of light in the middle of the night.

Apparently there's like an 80+ waiting list at the library. I'm going to order the books so that I can just read and re-read them. Oh, and when you've read them? The movie is coming out soon -- 23rd of March.
And I, for one, am so excited.
