book review, Cottage by the Sea

I opened the first page of this book for one main reason: I had to read about Sierra's wedding. (Read Love Finds You in Sunset Beach to get to know the wonderful guy she marries!)

Impatiently I read the first couple of pages, stomping through the words, anxious to find what I was looking for.

And then I stopped. Not purposely -- quite accidently. What happened? I got pulled into the story, that's what.

Erin has just started a wedding planning business with her best friend, Sharlene. When her dad has a stroke, she immediately flies to the sea to be with him. Amid some insistence from his new, younger wife,  Erin flies home. But it's not long before she's back, finding a more permanent place in her father's cottage by the sea. Committing to care for her father, Erin gives up everything she thought was important to be with the person who needs her the most.


Swept into the story, I became Erin. Not merely an observer, I felt the joys and hardships of sacrificing life to do what mattered most. When I reached one particular page, I couldn't swallow, my throat choked up. And then, serveral pages later, tears sprung to my eyes.

Robin has penned a beautiful story, a journey us readers take with her.
