Lewis' words
by loving Him more than we do them, we shall love them more than we do now. -- cs lewisHow does one love God? Like, really? CS Lewis wrote these words:
People are often worried. They are told they ought to love God. They cannot find any such feeling in themselves. What are they to do? ...act as if you did. Do not sit trying to manufacture feelings. Ask yourself, "If I were sure that I loved God, what would I do?" When you have found the answer, go and do it.I suppose in the same way we might love people.
I'm reading the Sierra Jensen books, by Robin Jones Gunn. I read this:
I will trust You, Lord, in every situation, I will place my faith in You...And then it says,
Sierra sang along softly, feeling like a hypocrite. She knew only too clearly how much easier it was to sing those words than to live them. (Hold on Tight, Robin Jones Gunn)I know, too. Think about it. Right now. Whatever's happening, going through your mind. To trust God... in every situation. I will place my faith in Him.
"Faith without deeds is nothing."
To believe in something is to put our hope in it. Not to simply acknowledge truth; but to act on it.
I'm not sure if the comment I wrote was just published, so I'll write it again--
ReplyDeleteI love C.S. Lewis and Robin Jones Gunn. I can completely relate to that quote from one of the Sierra books. It's easy to say that I trust God, but it's a different story when I'm forced to act on that faith.
I absolutely love your blog by the way, Emii. Every post is so beautiful and encouraging. <3 God bless!
