Relient K

\

read: the kite runner. oh, what a story. i didn't know anything about Afghanistan or the wars or what it was like... and this book filled me compassion and so much...

these days, i've been listening to relient k. like, non-stop and i love them so much. how was your Christmas? we went to my grandparents for lunch, my auntie's for tea, ate way too much food and played on the trampoline and shot hoops and sat by the fire because what else do you do when it's summer? ;) and i was thinking yesterday, as i looked at the piles of chocolate and lollies and such, that well... why can't we spread it out through the year so that whenever we go to eachother's houses there'll be yummy food instead of having it sit there while we can't eat it?! anyways, mates.

so i'm reading Luke right now and i came across this verse and i was just like... wow.

True, they can kill you, but then what can they do? There’s nothing they can do to your soul, your core being. Save your fear for God, who holds your entire life—body and soul—in his hands.
what i get from that is the fact that these lives we live here, well they're not the end. and i mean, you're probably thinking, well no duh, emii, there's this thing called eternal life. but does that sometimes seem to you some kind of distant dream? because it's so... far-fetched from reality and we, at least i, can be so blind. but this verse, to me, is saying, the worst thing people can do is kill you -- i mean, after that, they can do nothing else. they can't do anything to our soul. God. the only one we have to fear is God, because God, oh He is real, and He holds both our life and our soul. He holds our soul. nobody else can hold our souls, you know.

“What’s the price of two or three pet canaries? Some loose change, right? But God never overlooks a single one. And he pays even greater attention to you, down to the last detail—even numbering the hairs on your head! So don’t be intimidated by all this bully talk. You’re worth more than a million canaries.

and so the one we fear loves us. he loves every single canary (that's a bird, right) -- and He loves us more than a million of them. we sit here fearing people when the one we need to fear is God. because He, well, He's God.

“Stand up for me among the people you meet and the Son of Man will stand up for you before all God’s angels. But if you pretend you don’t know me, do you think I’ll defend you before God’s angels?"

does that make anyone else bite their lip and trace back to anytime when, well, you afraid to do what you knew you had to do and you just... didn't? that verse comes to mind, the one that says something like, "when you love the oppressed, the poor, the hated... you are loving me," or something like that, i couldn't even find it when i googled it. so if you know where that's from please comment it. :)

cuz that's the only way we could ever truly love anybody else
cuz that's the only way we could ever truly love anybody else
Isaiah 58:6Luke 4:18,"The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed."perspective.CS Lewis said, "If we love Him more than we do them, we will love them more than we do now."

  1. I enjoyed reading your thoughts once again, thanks! Also, I am a total Relient K fan girl. I find so many of their songs to be so relatable to my life. Do you have a favourite album?
